Why You’re Talking to ChatGPT Like a Therapist?

With AI seemingly taking over the world, it's not surprising the unique or 'bizarre' ways in which humans utilize artificial intelligence.
Whether it's for a college essay that's due at 11:59 p.m. or help with a vibe coding gig, AI acts as a 'hero' in our day to day lives.
However, life is still cruel and not all of us have access to a licensed therapist.
Especially in this economy where I often contemplate eating only 1 meal per day to circumvent grocery store prices.
And that's where ChatGPT comes in.
Entries like "What did this person mean when they texted this?" or trauma dumping about something that happened when you were a kid are pivotal to humans and their need for closure or solutions.
A Forbes study found that ChatGPT outperformed human therapists in couple's therapy scenarios because its responses were consistently rated as more empathetic, emotionally attuned, culturally sensitive, and effective at building trust and understanding—key qualities clients seek in therapy.
Not only does ChatGPT contain a vast amount of resourceful knowledge, they also are very objective, always in the mood, and guess what?
They never judge.
It's relieving, quick, and by all means therapeutic.
Even if it's just a rant, ChatGPT won't scold you for being upset about the person that honked at you in traffic.
It won't tell you to stop complaining.
It'll listen and provide potential solutions.
Isn't that what we all want?
Perhaps best of all, it's free.
